About Surah Ali ‘Imran
Surah Ali ‘Imran is the fourth longest surah of the Qur’an (Surah Al-Baqarah, Ash-Shuara and Al-A’Raf have more verses)
Surah Ali ‘Imran also addresses (corrects) the belief of Christians.
“Surah Ali `Imran was revealed in Al-Madinah, as evident by the fact that the first eighty-three Ayat in it relate to the delegation from Najran that arrived in Al-Madinah on the ninth year of Hijrah (632 CE).” Ref
“First five verses of Surah ’Al-Imran explain the doctrine of Tauhid, the Oneness of Allah, which is the basic point of difference between Islam and other religions and between a disbeliever and a true Muslim. Those who believe in the Oneness of Allah (and in all His prophets – PBUT (Peace Be Upon Them)) are Muslims and those who do not so believe are known as disbelievers or non-Muslims.” Ref

“1. Prophet Muhammad (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said to Muadh (RadiAllahu anhu), ‘Should I not teach you a supplication which, when used to implore Allah, Allah shall pay your debt, even it be as huge as Mount Uhud? He then mentioned them (i.e. Surah al Imran verse 26 & 27)’

2. Abdullah ibn Masud (radiAllahu anhu) said, ‘What an excellent treasure Surah al Imran is to the pauper when he recites it in prayer during the last part of the night’

3. Abu Umamah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said ‘Read the two radiant ones al-Baqarah and Al ‘Imran for they will come on the Day of Resurrection like two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds, pleading for their companions’

4. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam),‘Allah’s most Magnificent name, which when used to implore Him, He responds, is found in three Surahs. Al Baqara, Al’ Imran and Taha’

5. It was narrated from Kuraib that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (RA) told him:
He slept at the house of Maimunah (RA) the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), who was his maternal aunt. He said: “I laid down across the mattress and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and his wife lay along it. The Prophet (ﷺ) slept until midnight, or a little before or a little after. The Prophet (ﷺ) woke up and began to rub the sleep from his face with his hand. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surah Al Imran. Then he got up and went to a water skin that was hanging up and performed wudu from it, and he performed wudu well, then he stood up and prayed.” Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (RA) said: “I stood up and did what he had done, then I went and stood beside him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) put his right hand on my neck, and took hold of my right hand and tweaked it. Then he prayed two rak’ahs, then two rak’ahs, then two rak’ahs, then two rak’ahs, then two rak’ahs, then two rak’ahs, then he prayed witr. Then he lay down until the Mu’adhdhin came to him and he prayed two brief rak’ahs.”

MIRACLES in SURAH ALI ‘IMRAN
“There are many miracles mentioned in this Surah (Chapter). These verses contain the miraculous birth of Hazrat Yayha when his father Hazrat Zakariyah was in old age and his mother was barren. On this miraculous birth Hazrat Zakariyah says, “My Lord! When shall there be a son (born) to me and old age has already come upon me, and my wife is barren?” (Surah Ale Imran 3:40). Angel replies to him, “Verily, Allah does what he pleases”. Hazrat Yahya is called John the Baptist in the Bible. This is a miracle from Allah. An even greater miracle of Allah is the miraculous birth of Hazrat Isa (Jesus) without a father. His mother Maryam (Mary) said to Allah on receiving his son,” My Lord! When shall there be a son (born) to I me, and man has not touched me?” Reply was,” Allah creates what He pleases; when He has decreed a matter, He only says to it, be, and it is “.
(Surah Ale Imran 3:47)
This is another miracle of Allah. Miraculous birth of Jesus Peace be upon him is also mentioned in the bible (Matthew 1:18-25). Modern science tells us, there are many species that are born without a male intervention like the male bee. Such a thing happens in many lower animals by the will of Allah and by the will of Allah it happened in higher level specie like a human being where the male intervention gap was filled by the ‘command’ of Allah that is why Hazrat Isa is termed as ‘spirit from Allah’ in the holy Qur’an and the ‘kalima’ of Allah. Further more miracles of Hazrat Isa are stated in Surah Ali ‘Imran (3:49). Hazrat Isa says to the people ,” I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I determine for you out of dust like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird with Allah’s permission and I heal the blind and the leprous, and bring the dead to life with Allah’s permission and I inform you of what you should eat and what you should store in your houses; most surely there is a sign in this for you, if you are believers”.
